Circle CEO Publishes Long Article on the Relationship Between AI Agents and Blockchain

Circle co-founder and CEO Jeremy Allaire has published a lengthy discourse titled "The Agency Economy," pointing out that the AI Agent economy and the on-chain economy are two components of the same new economic system. AI provides mechanized intelligence and labor, while blockchain, stablecoins, and smart contracts offer mechanized property rights, payments, settlements, and credit. When combined, AI Agents can independently participate in economic activities. The agency economy is divided into three layers: the bottom layer is stablecoins, serving as the unit of account and final settlement means; the middle layer is the economic operating system, which achieves coordination, contract signing, and value exchange through programmable smart contracts; the top layer is the agency execution layer, driven by artificial intelligence and cloud computing to complete actual work. These three layers operate in software form over the internet, reconstructing traditional regional systems: stablecoins replace national banking systems, smart contracts shift execution from national courts to globally operable code, and AI Agents replace local labor with borderless work.
